God Save the Queen’s TV

This weekend, Jaceface and I made a very important discovery that will affect both our lives and this blog here on out…

WE GET BBC AMERICA FREE ON DEMAND

I’m usually unhappy with our cable provider, but ohhhh man. This is great! Jaceface is finishing up the Torchwood: Children of Earth special (highly recommended!).

And it also allowed us to discover a show with one of the greatest set-ups I’ve seen in awhile, called “Being Human.” The premise? Three twenty-somethings rent a flat together (this is London, of course) and try to make it through the trials and tribulations of their jobs and lives, supporting each other, blah blah.

Oh, did I forget to mention? The three twenty-somethings…they’re also

A WEREWOLF

A VAMPIRE

and A GHOST.

Brilliance. A perfect set-up. The ghost, of course, has some past issues to resolve regarding her death. The polite, well-mannered werewolf struggles with turning into a monster onceĀ  a month. The dark and handsome vampire has to choose whether he’s on the side of the humans or vamps in the upcoming epic war between the two.

(Has there ever been a nerdy vampire? Would pre-teen hearts explode all over the world if this character existed? You’ll have to excuse me for never reading “Twilight” so I don’t know if Stephanie Meyer has already covered this. Abstinent doesn’t automatically equal nerdy, but all squares are rectangles.)

In any case, this show is going to be a whole lot of fun and I can’t be more excited that I get it for free. BBC, sometimes you are just plain awesome.

Torchwood: Children of Earth is without a doubt the best scifi miniseries (excluding anything BSG related) in the last 20 years.
